Connection Through Movement, Rhythm and Shared Experience

Not every path to wellbeing happens one-to-one. Sometimes connection happens through movement, rhythm and sound. Sometimes through breathing, laughter, shared experience and simply being part of something with other people.

At Soul Recovery Service in Wauchope, Joel Mervyn-Jones offers group classes and experiences designed to create opportunities for connection—with your body, with the moment and with the people around you.

From Ecstatic Dance and group drumming to Chair Yoga and other wellbeing experiences, you don’t need to arrive knowing what you’re doing. Come as you are.

Different Experiences. The Same Core Intention.

The group experiences at Soul Recovery Service are designed to meet you where you are, supporting connection with the body and soul, and with those around you, holding space for your body to remember what it came here to do without forcing an outcome.

We aim to create an environment where you have the freedom to participate in a way that feels right for you.

Ecstatic Dance

What happens when you take away choreography and performance and focus on the experience of movement? Ecstatic Dance is an invitation to find out.

Guided by music rather than prescribed steps, you’re free to explore movement in your own way.

Group Drumming

Group drumming brings people together through sound. One rhythm meets another, individual sounds begin to connect and gradually the group creates something that belongs to everyone.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga offers a more accessible approach to yoga-inspired movement, with exercises performed while seated or using a chair for additional support. Sessions may incorporate gentle movement, stretching, breathing and moments of stillness. You will be encouraged to listen to your own body and work within a range that feels comfortable for you.

Feeling Safe in Your Body — and in the Room

Walking into a group activity for the first time can feel very different from booking an individual session. Soul Recovery Service aims to create a welcoming space for different people, personalities, bodies and ways of participating. The aim isn’t to make everybody move, sound or respond in the same way, but to support connection.

Connection Without Pressure

You don’t need to be highly social to participate in a group. Sometimes connection is simply sharing an experience with other people in the same place at the same time. There is space for different ways of being part of a group.
