New to Soul Recovery Service?
If you’ve never experienced Spinal Energetics, Somatic Bodywork, Lucia Light or Vibroacoustic Therapy before, it’s completely understandable to have questions. Here are answers to some of the most common FAQs about visiting Soul Recovery Service in Wauchope.
I’ve never tried anything like this. Where should I start?
There isn’t one right place to begin. Some people are naturally drawn towards touch and bodywork. Others are curious about sound, vibration or light. You may be interested in movement or prefer the idea of an individual session. Have a look through the different experiences and notice what interests you. If you’re still unsure, talk to Joel. You can ask questions and discuss the different options before deciding what you’d like to experience.
What does “feeling safe in your body” mean?
It can mean different things to different people. At Soul Recovery Service, it isn’t about achieving a particular state or never feeling uncomfortable. It can mean feeling present enough to notice your body, knowing that you have choices, being able to communicate your needs and respecting your own boundaries. It might mean noticing your breathing, recognising tension or simply becoming more comfortable with being still, moving freely or paying attention to physical sensations.
Joel’s role is to hold a supportive space in which you can explore that experience in your own way.
Do I need to prepare for my session?
Most sessions don’t require complicated preparation. Any specific instructions relating to the service you’ve booked can be provided beforehand. Generally, comfortable clothing and arriving with enough time to settle in are a good place to start.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. If your particular appointment requires different preparation, Joel will let you know.
What if I feel uncomfortable during a session?
Tell Joel. Communication and choice are important parts of feeling safe during any bodywork-based or sensory experience. You can ask questions, request an adjustment or let Joel know if something doesn’t feel right for you.
Are Soul Recovery Service treatments suitable for everyone?
Different modalities have different considerations and contraindications. Your health history, medications, pregnancy, light sensitivity or other circumstances may affect whether a particular experience is appropriate for you. This is especially important for services involving light stimulation and some body-based practices.
If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, take medication that may affect light sensitivity or have any concerns about whether a service is suitable for you, speak with Joel before booking and seek medical advice where appropriate.
Can these services replace medical or psychological treatment?
No. The services offered by Soul Recovery Service are complementary wellbeing practices and aren’t a substitute for appropriate medical, psychological or other professional healthcare. If you’re experiencing concerning physical or psychological symptoms, seek advice from an appropriately qualified health professional.
Can I experience more than one modality?
Soul Recovery Service offers a range of different experiences, and you may find yourself interested in more than one. Talk with Joel about what you’re curious about and whether different sessions can form part of your experience at Soul Recovery Service.
